Well beyond 14 days after the tragic deaths of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the duo.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt ready to express about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has elapsed that I can now articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started spending more time together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the movie, commenting that he doesn't recollect "one day without mirth".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes continued.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He concluded with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator
In a distinct essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge ruled to block the disclosure of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A judicial mandate issued a restriction on the files to limit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" connected to the ongoing investigation.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a record listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".

In the wake of the killings, public figures expressed divergent reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making provocative statements that were widely condemned by several individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the those speaking out last week. Speaking on his program, Rogan characterized the remarks as "disturbing" and remarked they revealed a worrisome absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by suggesting that an adviser could have acted when the decision to weigh in on the passing was made.
