The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the struggle between God and Mammon, the winner is obvious for materialism in Michael Showalter's wonderfully garish film adaptation of the disgraced televangelist and her felon spouse. It's an extravaganza of tacky decor, excessive cosmetics and bad faith, though the lead actress achieves to show the character in a likable light. Next Tuesday, late night, on Film4
